Phuket

With access to almost any and every dive site in the Andaman Sea, Phuket is not just a dive destination renowned for its own fantastic diving spots, but is the gateway to diving heaven. Blessed with two bountiful seas, the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea, the riches of Thailand have been known to many for decades.

Manta rays, tuna, leopard sharks, schools of tiny glassfish, boxfish, mackerel, barracudas, and even a whale shark, are some of the many species of marine life that are native to dive sites in Phuket. Pristine corals, critters galore, amazing granite boulders and even the odd wreck or two, are the perfect complements to the fantastic diversity of marine life.

Best time to dive:

October – May. Although diving is available in Phuket all year round, the number of liveaboards to Phi Phi Islands and Similan Islands dwindle outside of this period. From June – September, the weather becomes less predictable and visibility drops to only 15m. Nonetheless, 15m in clear turqoise water, framed by white sands and an ever-changing landscape of marine life, is definitely more than what anyone can ask for!
