Manado

Located off the northern tip of Sulawesi, Manado is regarded as the gateway to divers’ paradise – a haven of world class dive sites in the Bunaken National Marine Park, Lembeh Straits and even Manado Bay itself.

Famous for having one of the highest levels of biodiversity in the whole world, Bunaken National Marine Park in Manado has deep waters, outstanding fish variety and world-class wall diving. Comprised of the 5 islands of Bunaken, Siladen, Manado Tua, Montehage and Nain; rare macro species, tons of species of fishes, generas of corals, dugongs and even sperm whales await the casual diver.

Best time to dive:

April – November. Unlike Malaysia, Manado is not too affected by the North-East monsoon, so diving in Manado is available all year round. However, January to March do see some effects of the monsoon, with winds and rains causing rough surface conditions and 1 – 2 metre high swells.
