The largest island on the east cost of Malaysia, it is protected for conservation as it is home to not only diverse marine life, but several protected species of mammals as well. Surrounded by numerous coral reefs, Tioman Island offers a wide range of dive sites, from sheltered bays to volcanic rocky outcrops and pinnacles, as well as wrecks both artificial and real.
Explore Tioman through swimming in Labas and among the gorgonian fans at Chebeh, not forgetting to spend some time at the anemone garden at Bahara Rock. Try your luck and look out for stunning nudibranches and shrimps on your dives. Don’t miss the turtles, barracudas, stingrays, cuttlefish, reef sharks, bumphead parrot fish, moray eels and lion fishes too. Dive in one of the most dived spot in Tioman, Renggis Island, as it often charmed even the most experienced divers.
Best Time to Dive
- During the months of March to November, expect to have great weather by day, and a fantastic view of the starry night after dark in Tioman Island. Between November to March, the Northeast monsoon makes it more challenging to dive.
